Questions for you to ask us
- Ask for written information about the treatment options offered to you and find out whether the treatment is safe, with low risk of allergic reactions, permanent or semi-permanent.
- Ask about what forms of anaesthesia are available and which form is most appropriate for your treatment.
- Ask about possible side-effects, allergic reactions and post-treatment complications.
- Ask yourself if you feel comfortable with the practitioner. Do you feel confident about being treated?
- Ask about treatment follow-up and aftercare - whom to contact if there is a problem and if written information is provided about what to expect after treatment and what you can and cannot do.
- Ask how long the effects of the treatment are meant to last.
Questions we will ask you
- Expect us to ask you questions about your medical history, for example, if you are allergic to any medicines, if you bruise easily, if you have a history of allergy or cold sores, or if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
- A good practitioner will also discuss your treatment needs and expectations with you. Treatments may require several visits to achieve the desired effect.
- We will also discuss treatment costs with you. Before commencing treatment you should have a good idea of the expected treatment results and what it is going to cost you.
Final checks during treatment
- Be sure that any medical equipment used is sterile and unlikely to have been exposed to contamination prior to your treatment.
- Ask for a post-treatment advice sheet and a telephone number to call in the event of post-treatment complications.
